Flaps

by Jason Schappert

Flaps – Surfaces added to the trailing and sometimes leading edge of a wing. Actuation of the flap changes the curvature of the wing, increasing lift and drag, and allows an airplane to operate safely at lower speeds. There are four types of flaps: Plain, Split, Fowler, Slotted.
