Each year flight gear gets progressively more and more complex. With so many choices how would one know what to buy? First off lets go over what are the required items for pilots of all levels.
A flight bag: I’ve seen everything from deluxe leather flight bags, to the leftover backpack that collects dust in the closet. I however recommend getting something made for aviation. Aviation flight bags offer more space and have compartments made for things like sectionals, gats jars, fuel sticks etc.

Knee Board: You maybe able to get by without one for a bit! But as soon as you hit those Cross Country flights in your Private Pilot rating you’ll need one without a doubt. However it should be a required item for anyone pursuing their instrument rating.

E6B: Not only have an E6B but know how to use it! Well! I can’t even start to tell you how much it’s saved me when my electronic one died/failed during an FAA ride. I’m now solely relient on my Manuel E6B.

- LogBook
- Take-Off data cards
- Gats Jar
- Headset (explained much better in future article)
Hope this helps as some guidance!
