Video: Proper Spin Recovery

by Jason Schappert

Spin recovery tends to be a neglected area among pilots. In fact if it wasn’t for a good CFI I wouldn’t have even performed a spin until my CFI ticket (which is a CFI requirement) So it’s quite possible to go through your private, instrument, commercial, multi, etc… With never performing a spin.

In today’s video you can learn proper spin recovery in 3 easy steps

What’s your opinion on teaching or learning spins? Leave a comment below!

Erm, this is not correct — have you not heard of PARE? Power Idle, Ailerons Neutral, Opposite Rudder, Elevator briskly forward.

The order in which the steps are performed is important. And you need to include the fourth step.

Not sure it should matter, but I taught a spin and upset recovery course (along with akro) for a couple of years.

Not trying to give you a hard time, by the way… but this is important!

    Ryan,

Great Comment! I've never heard of PARE but will be sure to add it to my arsenal of acronyms! haha

I’m barely studying to get my PPL and I was wondering about spins. We’ve already done power off and on stalls which feel no different than a car going downhill. However, I’m dead scared of a spin, how does one feel? I want to learn to recover from them but I’m scared of asking my CFI to teach me.
