Copying an IFR Clearance

Flying IFR can be stressful, most of the stress is put on before you even leave the ground. Many of my students find copying the clearance to be one of the most difficult aspects. I find the most simple way to copy and read back an IFR clearance is to use the acronym CRAFT. Let’s examine what this means.

C – Cleared to
R – Route
A – Altitude
F – Frequency
T – Transponder code

In this video Jason demonstrates how to prepare for a clearance, ask for a clearance and what to do with that clearance during an IFR flight to Lakeland.
